The Summit Roundtable
The Summit Roundtable will be held concurrently with the Learning Labs in the afternoon session of 18 August 2009. At the Roundtable, a smaller group of approximately 220 participants and observers will discuss issues which are relevant to women in the workplace and in society with the objective of presenting key recommendations to the Minister for Women, Family & Community Development.
Participants for the Roundtable are generally selected based on their profile and portfolios in the company, department or organisation they belong to, although anyone that is interested in contributing to positive developments for women in the work sphere and for improving the postion of women in society is invited to participate. As with previous Summits, entrepreneurs, retirees, and homemakers are also encouraged to register to attend.
In recent years, key issues that have been discussed at the Summit Roundtable have ranged from discussions on positive change in the workplace - flexible employment, work life balance, diversity and inclusion and support for women entrepreneurs and businesswomen - to issues affecting society such as support for single mothers and those caring for special needs children and the elderly, the need for more community spaces and disabled-friendly infrastructure, enhancing safety and security and encouraging voluntarism. Recommendations from previous year’s Summits can be viewed at the links below.
